European Democracy at the 2024 Crossroads: Rule of Law for All?

Ta Politika / Panel
About

The next European Parliament elections are scheduled to be held in 2024 and it is expected they will reflect the tumultuous times Europe has faced and is still facing in this mandate. This will also be the first time European voters head to the elections after Brexit, and as a result, citizens from 27 Member States will choose their 705 representatives. What is the current state of European democracy and will the Rule of Law discussions ahead bring forth concrete actions? Will the so-called conditionally mechanism procedure limit the flow of EU funds to countries with systematic rule of law problems? What are the possibles steps we can take to improve EU democracy ahead of the election?
